Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education at Our School

At our school, Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in supporting the physical, social, emotional and mental development of every child. We follow the Real PE scheme, a modern, inclusive and child-centred approach to PE that puts personal development and physical literacy at the heart of learning.

What is Real PE?

Real PE is a nationally recognised programme designed to help children develop the skills, confidence and motivation to enjoy being physically active for life. It focuses on developing fundamental movement skills alongside key personal and social skills, ensuring every child can succeed, regardless of their sporting ability.

Our PE Curriculum

Through Real PE, lessons are structured around six core learning cogs:

  • Physical - developing fundamental movement skills such as balance, coordination and agility

  • Cognitive - improving decision-making, problem-solving and understanding

  • Social - encouraging teamwork, communication and cooperation

  • Emotional - building confidence, resilience and perseverance

  • Personal - promoting self-belief, goal setting and personal challenge

  • Health & Fitness - understanding the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle

Children are encouraged to challenge themselves at their own level, helping them to feel successful and motivated in every lesson.

Inclusive and Enjoyable PE

Real PE ensures that all children are actively engaged and supported. Activities are carefully adapted so that every child can take part, feel valued and experience success. Lessons promote enjoyment, creativity and independence while developing positive attitudes towards physical activity.

A Lifelong Love of Physical Activity

Our aim is not just to develop sporting skills, but to help children leave primary school with the confidence, competence and enthusiasm to stay active becoming lifelong healthy and content individuals.
