Inclusion & SEND
Inclusion at our school
At Wolverton Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of our ethos and practice. We believe that all children are entitled to an inspiring education that enables them to achieve their best possible educational and personal outcomes. We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum combined with high expectations to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. Our school complies with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and works closely with pupils, parents and external professionals to ensure appropriate support is in place.

Our inclusive approach
We believe that every child has the right to access a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum. High expectations are held for all pupils, and barriers to learning are identified and addressed to ensure that every child can participate fully within school.
Our inclusive approach supports pupils with:
-
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
-
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
-
Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
-
Medical needs
-
Pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds
Disability Discrimination Act
At Wolverton School we are committed to providing a fully accessible environment, as far as is reasonably practicable, which values and includes all pupils, staff, parents and visitors regardless of their education, physical, sensory, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural needs. We are further committed to challenging attitudes about disability and accessibility and developing a culture of awareness, tolerance and inclusion.
We are working in liaison with the local authority in developing and implementing our accessibility plan.
Equal Opportunities
We believe The school aims to promote positive attitudes in children, staff, governors and parents so that children can fulfil their potential and make choices, free from expectations based on gender or role stereotyping. We seek to fulfil the aims of the school regardless of age, gender, ability (both academic and physical), ethnicity or background of the child. The school will liaise with the local authority when assessing the needs and providing for children admitted to the school with particular physical disabilities.
