Forest School

At our school, we are proud to offer weekly Forest School sessions led by our qualified Forest School Leader, Mr Matt Jones.

Forest School is a child-centred approach to learning that takes place in the natural environment. It provides opportunities for children to develop through play, exploration and supported risk-taking. The programme helps to build confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem, while encouraging a strong connection with the natural world.

Through regular sessions, children are able to:

  • Learn new skills through hands-on experiences in nature

  • Develop social and teamwork skills

  • Gain a greater awareness of managing risk safely

  • Grow in confidence and creativity

  • Enjoy the benefits of outdoor learning in a safe and supportive setting

Forest School has its roots in Scandinavia, where outdoor learning is seen as an important part of everyday life. Since being introduced to the UK in 1993, it has continued to grow and is now recognised as a valuable part of education.

At our school, we see the positive impact Forest School has on our pupils every week. It not only enhances their learning but also supports their social, emotional, physical and spiritual development.
