Behaviour

AIMS OF OUR POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR POLICY

  • To apply a consistent whole school positive behaviour policy supported and followed by the whole school community, teachers, teaching assistants, children, parents and governors, based on a sense of community and shared values and rules
  • By applying positive policies to create a caring, family atmosphere in which teaching and learning can take place in a safe and happy environment
  • To teach, through the school curriculum, values and attitudes as well as knowledge and skills. (This will promote responsible behaviour, encourage self-discipline and encourage in children a respect for themselves, for other people and for property)
  • To encourage good behaviour rather than to simply punish bad behaviour
  • To make clear to children the distinction between minor and more serious misbehaviour
  • To treat problems when they occur in a caring, sensitive and sympathetic manner in the hope of achieving an improvement in behaviour
  • To encourage increasing independence and self-regulation so that each child learns to accept responsibility for their own behaviour

We support positive behaviour and a positive environment through:

  • Developing the voice of the child through, for example, House meetings and School Council
  • Developing the skills of co-operation and discussion
  • Encouraging everyone to take pride in the school environment
  • Ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to learn without distraction
  • Encourage high level of pupil attendance and engagement

BULLYING

At Wolverton we are committed to encouraging positive working relationships by providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so that they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.  Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our school.  If bullying does occur, all pupils should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.  We are a TELLING school.  This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the staff. All children are to be treated with dignity and respect whilst at school.
